Kenya Fashion awards nomination ceremony went down last night as it launched its 5th annual chapter of the prestigious event.

The awards established in 2013, is an initiative which honours and celebrates outstanding performances and excellence in the fashion industry. The 2017 nominees were announced last night at the Fairmont Norfolk in partnership with luxury Champagne House Moët & Chandon.

If you want to vote for your favorite fashionista, the voting process will take place for the next three years on their website, with winners being announced  at a gala ceremony to be held later in October.

Kenya Fashion Awards believes in empowering and creating a foundation for the young and upcoming talent within the industry in establishing their careers or businesses.
Through an event dubbed “Next Gen Fashion Weekend Africa” the initiative has been able to create a platform for young people to explore their talents, showcase, gain experience and knowledge pertaining to the industry.
This year’s NextGen Fashion Weekend will be held on 4th & 5th August 2017 at the Michael Joseph Centre and winners announced during the Gala.

The initiative also raises awareness of the importance of the development of this economic sector by creating opportunities for the youth, mentoring, recognizing and empowering them. It is also a platform for the young talents  to compete based on the different themes and challenges presented to them annually.
Winning or being shortlisted for an Award provides endless rewards for designers, photographers, models who participate as the event offers a great opportunity to increase brand awareness and to showcase designers, photographers or fashion stylists work to the industry professionals, fashionistas, press and media.
The shortlisted participants are judged by a panel of experts from the industry as well as relevant institutions and the winners of the competition awarded during the Gala.
Among the personalities nominated for the KFA 2017 include Wambui Kibue, John Kaveke, Tint Seh, Steve Koby, Nyanja Kobi, Lucia Musau, Ms. Kaela Mikaela, Willy Collins just to mention but a few.
Drum, True Love and Couture Africa were also nominated under the EA magazine with best fashion segment category, Vivo, Bata, Lalesso and Kikoy.com under Fashion Brand of the year, Soko under Jewelery Designer of the Year, while The Star, Eve and Pulse magazine were nominated under the Newspaper with the best fashion segment category.
Alongside the Awards, KFA runs business/talent development programs designed to support, mentor, empower and create opportunities for the next generation of professionals within the industry.
