– Illegal Ghanaian immigrants in Saudi Arabia are been charged to flee the country

-The Saudi government has issued a 90 day amnesty for all illegal immigrants in the country to as a matter of urgency flee the country before June 25 this year.
Foreign affairs minister, Shirley Ayorkor Botchway has been on the fore-front against human rights abuses in the Gulf
The amnesty by Saudi Arabia has seen the Ghana embassy in Riyadh issue a warning to hundreds of Ghanaian immigrants living illegally in the Gulf State.
Checks by Yen.com.gh show that most of these illegal migrants from Ghana are taking the order as false as they argue that government has not issued any such warning so far.
A stern warning by the government of Saudi Arabia states that all illegal migrants who fail to leave the country before the deadline risk being arrested, detained and treated without mercy. Meanwhile, the foreign affairs minister, Shirley Ayorkor Botchway, has revealed that government is putting in place measures to ensure that Ghanaians travelling to the Gulf States are treated with dignity.
So far, news about life in the Gulf States remain unbelievably shocking considering the spate of human right abuses mostly against female immigrants who travel to the country through agents in search of non-existent jobs.
In fact, Just recently, security officials arrested four human traffickers sending innocent girls to the Gulf States – a development a former deputy ambassador to Saudi Arabia reveals is as a result of high ranking politicians who secretly engage in these acts.
The laws against human trafficking are very existent here in Ghana with culprits liable to facing up to years behind bars but unfortunately, these laws remain nothing but useless as thousands of these innocent girls lose their dignity each and every time they make the dangerous trips to such Gulf cities.
Sadly enough, the image of Ghana on the world stage has dwindled since 2016 as the American government placed Ghana on the red list over issues related to human trafficking.
