Kenyans have woken up to shocking news on Friday, February 24, that Nyeri Governor Nderitu Gachagua is dead.

Gachagua’s health status has been the talk of town since he won the gubernatorial seat in 2013.

He has, on numerous occasions, sought treatment outside the country, missing out on a number of national events including Mashujaa Day celebrations held annually on October 20.
Rumors of his death spread like wildfire three months ago when bloggers began the rumor that the late governor was dead after battling leukemia in an Indian hospital.
The Nyeri county government came out to vehemently deny the rumors, saying he was well and carrying on with his duties.
