A ladies’ dorm room which was lately reconditioned at a expense of Sh1.5 Million is the current to be torched in the continuous arson attacks in schools.
The dormitory at Garba Tulla High School went up in flames early Thursday morning, leaving the institution’s fraternity shocked considering the amount spent on the reconstruction of the facility.
The fire was suspected to have been started by an outsider, who was still under interrogation by press time.
According to the school’s principal, Mr Nurr Galm Galgalo, the students remained calm following the 6.30am fire incident that destroyed the belongings of a number of girls residing in the dormitory.
“Students were peaceful but we suddenly got reports that one of our dormitories was on fire,” said Galgalo.
The incident came after 27 students from the institution were sent home for refusing to sit the end-term mock examination.
It is reported that the fire was put out with the help of parents, students and teachers.
Principal Galgalo added that the school’s board of governors would convene to determine the fate of students.
Garba Tulla adds to the growing list of over 100 learning institutions across the country that have gone up in flames.
