Veteran and former Politician Dickson Kihika’s daughter faces theft charges of property belonging to a Talent school worth KES 19 million.
Catherine Kihika, a sister to Nakuru County assembly speaker Susan Kihika, allegedly broke into Kenya Talent School on July 12 where she stole teaching equipment and electronics valued at the aforementioned amount.
She was purportedly accompanied by a group of men in a lorry that ferried the property from the school premises to her residence where she was arrested on Tuesday while in possession of the goods.
The land property rented to the school belongs to the Kihika family and has been at the centre of controversy over the management of the 42-arece piece Engashura Estate in Bahati after the politician’s death.
The politician had big influence on national politics during the regimes of Mzee Jomo Kenyatta and Daniel Arap Moi.
Chief Magistrate David Kemei ordered that Kihika be remanded for four days after she was charged on Wednesday in a Nakuru court. He said this will enable the police to complete investigations as the matter was slated for mention on August 1 for directions.
