Kenya: Three Girls Arraigned For Burning School

Three students of Kibutha Girls High School in Murang’a County have been arraigned in a Kangema court for torching their school dormitory.

The three girls were charged that on the night of July 18 together with others not before the court, burnt a dormitory, destroying it and belongings of 75 students completely.

They were arraigned before Principal magistrate Jared Magoli.

The girls, who denied the charges, were each released on a KES 50, 000 cash bail or KES 100,000 bond pending the hearing of the case on August 30.

Kibutha was the third school to be torched in Murang’a County in a span of three weeks.

Already, 14 secondary schools from the County have experienced students’ unrest with three dormitories reduced to ashes.
