Political analyst David Makali has resigned from the Independent Boundaries and Electoral Commission (IEBC).

Makali according to a communiqué sent to journalists on Friday voluntarily terminated his engagement with the commission,  where he had offered communication consultancy services.

Makali last week announced that he will contest for the Bungoma Senatorial seat in 2017,  taking over from the incumbent Moses Wetang’ula who has declared that he will gun for the Presidency.

According to a statement signed by IEBC Communication and Public Affair Manager Andrew Limo,  Makali considered his other engagements that may be perceived as conflict of interest in relation to the mandate of the Commission.

“The Commission appreciates Makali’s professional contribution and wishes him all the best in his new endeavors, “explained Limo.
