No fewer than 30 senior officers of the Nigeria Police Force are set for retirement, reports Thisday.
This was sequel to a letter written to the presidency by the new acting Inspector General of Police (IGP), Ibrahim Idris.
The officers who are of the rank of Assistant Inspector General (AIG) of police, were said to have been penned down for immediate retirement.
The reason for his move might not be far fetched. The affected officers are Idris’s seniors in terms of promotion.
News 24 had reported that the federal government had ordered Idris, to clean up the top hierarchy of the Police Force.
Seven Deputy Inspectors General, DIGs, have been retired already, following the retirement of former IGP, Solomon Arase
Attempts made by some AIGs to meet and greet Idris since his appointment by the President was said to have proven abortive as they were blocked off.
