Deputy President William Ruto on Friday urged the opposition to stop divisive politics which he said is obsolete.
Ruto said opposition politicians were practicing politics of hatred and violence among Kenyans.
“We are urging our rivals to style up in politics and stop dividing Kenyans through tribes, violence, demonstrations and making noise. Kenya needs peace,” he said.
He lamented that the high political temperatures caused by the opposition were affecting country’s business and economic growth.
Speaking at Wamagana grounds in Tetu Nyeri County, Ruto stated that the Jubilee government was keen to ensure peace prevails among all communities in the country.
“Jubilee government wants economic growth and development. We want to see better roads, increased electricity connection and improved agriculture,” said Ruto.
He was accompanied by Nyeri deputy Governor Samuel Wamathai, area MP Ndung’u Gethenji, Nyeri Town MP Esther Murugi and Laikipia West MP Wachira Karani.
He later proceeded to the neighbouring Kirinyaga County to commission development projects in Kerugoya and Kutus.
