Nigeria: Protesting Workers Shut Down Ministry Of Finance

Civil servants at the Federal Ministry of Finance on Monday shut down the headquarters of the ministry in Abuja over what they described as poor welfare since the assumption of office of the Minister of Finance, Kemi Adeosun, Punch reports.

The protesters locked all the entrances to the ministry and prevented vehicles and other visitors from gaining access to the premises.

They expressed disappointment over the non payment of the entitlements due to them, threatening to continue with the protest until their demands are met.

They alleged that unlike in the past where they were entitled to overtime allowances, training and other welfare packages, such were no longer forthcoming.
