Nyeri County Assembly Majority Leader, Duncan Gituanja has said that his property is being targeted after falling out with Governor Nderitu Gachagua.
Gituanja said he has already been served with letters of demolition.
Speaking in the chambers of the County Assembly, the Kabaru Ward Representative stated that he has been targeted for fighting the Governor.
“The houses of Mweiga Ward Rep Anthony Kanyiri with his wife and those of Wamagana Ward Rep Jesse Kamuri are also targeted because of demanding answers from the executive,” said Gituanja.
He maintained that he is the leader of the House and wants the Governor to implement the budget.
“My differences with the Governor are not personal but involve governance. He is still my friend but he must work for the people. I have support of 41 MCAs who have come together to stand for the people,” said Gituanja.
He lashed out at a section of the Ward Reps who are supporting the Governor, saying that ‘history and conscience will judge them’.
Recently, the County boss announced that all unapproved buildings in the County would be demolished.
Governor Gachagua said the inspectorate officials would make rounds in the County identifying buildings that have skipped routine inspection and mark them for demolition.
“We are going to demolish all the buildings that lack approval. Our inspectorate officers will go round inspecting houses and those that lack the requisite approval will be marked for demolition,” he said.
The Governor, however, urged property owners to visit the County offices to acquire licenses that will give engineers the green light to complete their construction works.
