Pictures of Kenyan Deputy President, William Ruto having lunch at a makeshift restaurant in Uasin Gishu County have gone viral on social media.
Residents were stunned to see Ruto enter the mud-walled restaurant located at Maili Tisa junction, where he ordered ugali (a dish made from maize flour and water) and chicken for lunch.
His meal cost KES 300, Daily Nation reported, but he paid KES 10 000 for all the people who accompanied him.
Various government officials accompanied him, including the Uasin Gishu County Governor Jackson Mandago.
The deputy president said he started his chicken-selling business at that spot many years ago when he was still hustling.
