Two Police Imposters To Spend One Year Behind Bars

A Nyeri court has handed two men a one-year imprisonment for impersonating police officers with intent to rob a businessman.

John Maina and John Njagi attempted to rob a drunk man posing as police officers before their plan failed and were arrested, court heard.

They were arraigned before senior resident magistrate Ruth Kefa where they pleaded guilty.

They were accused of falsely identifying themselves as police officers to Kennedy Njuguna who was on his way home from Wayside Bar on May 18 at 11 pm.

The court heard that the accused persons dragged Njuguna towards Giakanja shopping Centre, forcing him to show them his home to secure his release.

However, Njuguna showed them a neighbour’s house which they tried to force their way into.

The owner of the house woke up due to the confrontation and silently called police officers who rushed and arrested them.
