More unions have reportedly joined the ongoing nationwide strike declared by the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) to protest the increase in fuel prices.
According to Punch, the industrial action, which entered its third day on Friday, saw more banks, schools and government offices across the country being shut.
This was despite threats by the state government to dismiss any worker who participated in the action, the report said.
Reports on Friday indicated that the NLC had gained momentum in most parts of the country.
The National Vice President of the NLC, Amaechi Asugwuni , urged calm among those striking, while claiming that injustice could not be allowed to flourish in the country.
