INEC Endorses PDP’s Convention In Port Harcourt.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has endorsed the Peoples Democratic Party’s national convention scheduled to hold in Port Harcourt, Rivers State on Saturday, reports Vanguard.

INEC’s Director of Voter Education and Publicity, Oluwole Osaze-Uzzi, stated this in Abuja on Thursday.

Osaze-Uzzi said the commission will monitor the elections to all offices except the National Chairman, National Secretary and Auditor for which INEC has been served with a court order.

Vanguard reports that a Federal High Court sitting in Lagos had stopped the PDP from electing anyone into offices of national chairman, national secretary and national auditor of the party at the Saturday convention.

The court restrained INEC from monitoring and or recognizing the conduct of any election into the affected offices pending the hearing and determination of a substantive suit on it.

INEC with the decision has discredited the parallel convention being planned by the PDP Concerned Stakeholders group led by former Information Minister, Professor Jerry Gana.
