Raila Told Kibaki He Would Miss Othaya Funeral

CORD leader Raila Odinga informed former President Mwai Kibaki he would not attend the funeral of former First Lady Lucy Kibaki, it has emerged.

The CORD leader, according to sources told Kibaki he would be busy elsewhere but nonetheless offered his full support.

” Raila knew he would be elsewhere and apologized to the former President in advance,” a source close to the CORD leader told News24.

The CORD leader had been penned in to attend the thanksgiving party of Kajiado central Mp Memusi Kanchori which took place the same day in Kajiado town.

Othaya is 300 kilometres away from Kajiado, not to mention that the funeral of the former First Lady ended just after 4 PM in the afternoon which could have made the trip to Kajiado a tough one.

The CORD leader had also personally condoled Kibaki after visiting him at his Muthaiga home following the death of Mrs Kibaki on 26 April at a London hospital.
