Suspected Fulani herdsmen have murdered the District Head of Fadan Karshi, in southern part of Kaduna State, Bala Madaki.

Madaki, 66 was killed alongside his nephew, Emmanuel Tanko during a violence around 10:30pm Sunday night.

The assailants were said to have stormed the compound of the deceased at 10pm and started shooting.

They proceeded into his room and shot him point blank while also killing Emmanuel Tanko, his nephew who was writing his final year secondary school exams.

The streets of the district are deserted as residents are either fleeing for safety or permanently indoor for fear of more attacks according to a community leader in the area, Pastor Mike Makarfi.

He said the assassination of the chief may be connected to an incident that occurred in May, 2014, when some Fulani armed men invaded the police station in the area and seven people were killed.

As they were escaping, two were killed in an exchange of gunfire between them and the Police.

He said the Fulani Association later petitioned the then National Security Adviser, Col. Sambo Dasuki (retd) and copied the governor.

They said that the late District head should be arrested, dethroned and prosecuted for the death of the two Fulani.

The Kaduna State Police spokesman, Zubairu Abubakar, confirmed the attack, but that he was waiting for the DPO from Karshi to furnish him with details.
