Devolution Cabinet Secretary Mwangi Kiunjuri and Kieni MP Kanini Kega have told off CORD leader Raila Odinga over his remarks on termination of ICC cases.

Kiunjuri accused Raila of been a coward for making the statements while outside Kenya.

“He is always in a journey speaking ill about the government. He is inciting public against the government. The opposition cannot lead this country as they have not proven so,” said Kiunjuri.

He claimed that Raila was hoping President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto would be jailed in order to ascend to power.

The Cabinet Secretary stated that the opposition leader was using the same old strategies of politics.

MP Kanini Kega said the thanksgiving prayer rally at Afraha Stadium, Nakuru, is genuine and is aimed at thanking God for termination of the ICC cases against all the six suspects.

“We remember Raila saying that the prayer rallies that we conducted across the country would not work. The cases were terminated because of prayers which he said would not help the suspects,” said Kega.

He added that the congratulatory message that the CORD leader sent to Ruto was not genuine given his recent statements while in France.

Raila is said to have stated that ICC’s failure to try top Kenyan leaders for crimes against humanity in the country’s worst violence since independence spells “doom” for global efforts to fight impunity.

War crimes judges dropped cases against President Uhuru at the end of 2014 and that against deputy president William Ruto last week.

“This decision spells doom for the international justice system and fight against impunity,” said the former Prime Minister.
