Residents of Chamgiwadu village in Rongo sub-county are in shock after a man committed suicide at his father-in-law’s home after his efforts to have his in-laws resolve a long standing marital dispute with his wife bore no fruit.
Rongo OCPD, Kisaka Muganda said the 25-year-old man, Collins Ouma, had visited his in-laws after his wife escaped from home following a long standing marital dispute.
“His in-laws told the man that they had not seen his wife and they had to discuss their problem with her in his presence which enraged him,” Muganda said.
Ouma had spent the night at his sister’s home a few kilometres from his in-laws home where he left in the morning to commit suicide by hanging himself using a rope on a tree in the compound.
Police have launched an investigation into the incident as the body was taken to Rosewood hospital mortuary in Rongo.
