The Cabinet Secretary in charge of Devolution and National Planning, Mwangi Kiunjuri has called for an end to celebrations over the acquittal of the Deputy President William Ruto and Journalist Joshua Sang by the ICC.
He said the victory for the duo was for the nation and the government should focus on delivering their pre-election pledges to Kenyans.
Speaking in Sipili, Kiunjuri stated that Kenyans must forgive and embrace each other with an aim of achieving harmonious living.
“As we head into the 2017 General Elections, the government needs to ensure that they have fulfilled all the promises they made to Kenyans,” he said.
He further called on leaders to focus on giving services to Kenyans instead of engaging in unnecessary political rhetoric.
The CS said it was unfortunate that some leaders had resorted to frustrating and discrediting the government’s agenda by preaching division politics and portraying the government in bad light.
“Leaders should lead by example especially in the process of building our nation. Instead of going around engaging in cheap politics, they should be pushing for tangible development projects,” he said.
He urged Kenyans to support the government and its development agenda.
