BREAKING: ICC Drops Ruto, Sang Case

The ICC has dropped the case facing DP William Ruto and Joshua Sang.

The ICC announced Tuesday that the DP and Sang had no case to answer after having appealed an earlier decision to charge them for Crimes Against Humanity.

The decision came after trial judges stated that prosecutor Fatou Bensouda had no evidence to back up her claims that the two were guilty of the charges.

The ruling was made via a written communique by the ICC Tuesday evening.

Chief Registrar Helena Vukasinovic said Trial Chamber judges found no incriminating evidence to sustain the cases against the two.

Judge Eboe Esuji said in a statement on Tuesday that proceedings were declared a mistrial “due to a troubling incidence of witness interfere and intolerable political meddling”.

“The charges are hereby vacated and the accused are discharged from the process without prejudice to their presumption of innocence or the prosecutors right to re-prosecute at a later time.”
