My Presidential Launch Bid Will Be At Muliro Gardens,” Insists Wetangula

Senator Moses Wetangula has insisted that his planned presidential bid launch will proceed as planned in Kakamega.

The Senate minority leader, said the launch will happen at the Masinde Muliro grounds as previously planned and that there were no changes to the plans whatsoever.

Speaking at his home in Bungoma on Friday afternoon, the Ford Kenya party leader, said all plans had been put in place and there was no change in venue as previously reported.

“All our plans are in place and we are prepared for the launch at Muliro gardens in Kakamega on Saturday.

There has been no change in the venue and our supporters have been made aware,” he said.

The Ford Kenya leader has engaged with Kakamega Governor, Wycliffe Oparanya, over the venue of his presidential bid.

Mr. Oparanya had on Thursday after a Cabinet meeting resolved to take the launch to Muslim Primary School behind Kakamega Polytechnic saying that the Muliro grounds was unavailable.

Mr. Oparanya said that the grounds had been under renovation and was only open for recreational purposes and not for political rallies and church events.

However, Mr. Wetangula insisted that they had the venue and their supporters would start streaming in as early as 6am for the event.

He said there was no plans to shift the venue and moved to assure his supporters that adequate security will be accorded to the venue and there would be no clash at all.

Mr. Wetangula said there was no bad blood between Ford Kenya and ODM terming it as a sibling rivalry that was healthy for democracy.

He downplayed the rift saying the two parties still had a common agenda as a coalition and the launch will not affect their chances.

“What is happening is simple sibling rivalry between two brothers. This does not in any way affect the coalition since all of us are focused on a common agenda,” said Wetangula
