Officials at the Kenya Power Company have reportedly been sacked for misleading the energy ministry.
According to Kenyans, Energy cabinet Secretary, Charles Keter said officials at the power company lied about the schools electrification initiative that was meant to allow for the primary school laptop project to take place.
Keter also slammed the notion that the project would be launched next month.
“We have a duty to Kenyans as a ministry. We pledged to ensure all primary schools are powered to enable the Government kick off the laptops project and no laxity will be entertained. The affected staff lied to us, only for us to get contrary information from the ground,” he was quoted as saying.
Meanwhile, Kenya signed a multi-billion dollar agreement with China Communications Construction Company (CCCC) to extend the country’s rail network, adding to a swathe of infrastructure deals in Africa won by Chinese firms.
