Cord leader Raila Odinga’s confidants are reportedly said to be “uneasy”, as mistakes made during the 2013 election campaign continue to linger.
According to The Star, a litany of mistakes, internal wrangles, bungled party nominations, confused tactics and poor strategy cost Cord leader Raila Odinga the presidency in 2013.
The report said that following the collapse of Okoa referendum this week, there were fears among Raila’s supporters that he may not have learned his lesson from that loss.
This comes as News24 reported on Monday that Odinga was behind President Uhuru Kenyatta according to opinion polls.
The polls carried by Infotrak and saw at least 1 800 people being interviewed over the month of Marc, indicated that Kenyatta carried a full 11 point lead over Raila if the elections were held today.
According to the pollster, the Cord leader was lagging behind for one simple reason. He was not campaigning in places that were not his strongholds.
In the last one year, it had been noted that Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto had campaigned in opposition strongholds unlike the Cord leader.
