TNA Defends Ousted Chairman

A group of The National Alliance (TNA) party members from Nyeri branch has defended the ousted local chairman businessman Thuo Mathenge.

The group dismissed the newly elected chairman Joseph Macharia saying he is a man from Kiambu County who cannot lead the Nyeri branch.

In a press conference at a Nyeri hotel, Mathira TNA party chairman, David Thengereri said the party does not recognise the group led of Secretary Regina Macharia who ousted Mathenge as the chairman.

“We want to refute the reports of ousting our chairman Thuo Mathenge in the strongest terms possible. He is still our chairman and the group that made the remarks is not recognised,”said Thengereri.

He said Macharia’s group are rebels who should be disciplined by the party.

They defended Mathenge saying he has been very busy mobilising voters to register in large numbers and so should not be blamed for not convening meetings at the branch level.

Thengereri who was accompanied by the branch organising secretary Nginii Gathekia and over 20 party members maintained that Mathenge is still the chairman of TNA in Nyeri.
