NTSA Boss, Team Hijacked During Operation On Ngong Road

The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) Director General, Francis Mejja and his team were hijacked by matatu crew during a crackdown along Ngong Road Wednesday afternoon.

The officials were reportedly unaccompanied by police officers when the incident happened.

According to Standard, the matatu drove them towards a thicket near Karen where they were abandoned amid threats from the crew.

Police have advised them to be seeking escort whenever they go for such operations.

This is not the first time for matatu crew to ‘hijack’ traffic officers.

In January, matatu crew on Thika Superhighway locked up a traffic police officer who was allegedly demanding a bribe to take his child to school.

However, the officer managed to escape the wrath of angry matatu drivers who had blocked the road.
