Nakuru traffic boss, Mary Omari has confirmed that four people have died following the Tuesday morning accident at Mai Mahiu.
The accident occurred after a fuel tanker veered off its lane hitting five vehicles before bursting into flames.
Omari confirmed that four people died on the spot, while scores sustained injuries and were rushed to a hospital in Naivasha town.
The four who died were in a Prado vehicle which was among the five hit by the fuel tanker.
“The truck was descending the escarpment near the Italian Catholic Church when the driver lost control and hit the oncoming vehicles,” she said.
She added that three of the vehicles involved in the accident also caught fire, rendering the road impassable.
