Beatrice Wairimu who was wife to former area chief was attacked in the early hours if Friday morning hours by the assailant who later escaped.
Her daughter Jennifer Wangui said her mother was heading to the toilet at around 6.AM when the suspect pounced on her stabbed her severally on the left ribs before escaping to an unknown destination.
Wangui said that the suspect identified as Dickson Mutwa had worked at their homestead for one and a half years before been fired on December 20, last year.
She said Mutwa had been locked up at the nearby Endarasha police station last weekend for allegedly stealing two sacks of potatoes from the deceased’s farm but was released.
“He could have fulfilled his revenge because my mother had reported him to police for stealing her potatoes,” she said.
The deceased has left behind five children.
Her body was taken to Nyeri County Referral Hospital mortuary.
