Nairobi – Respected scholar, author and former TV presenter dies in a Nairobi Hospital.
Professor Joseph Nyasani died Friday at the Aga Khan Hospital aged 79 from what family described as cardiac arrest.
” We have bad news. The Professor has breathed his last. We ask for privacy,” a family member Dan Nyasani told News24 from the Hospital.
He had been admitted at the hospital from the evening of January 1 2016.
A well known scholar, Nyasani authored more than 40 books and in a brief spell worked at national broadcaster Kenyan Broadcasting Corporation.
” He was a great scholar and person and his contribution to the country was noted. He will be missed,” President Uhuru Kenyatta said of Nyasani.
Nyasani also worked at the UN Secretariat in New York.
He is father to former TV Presenter Nyatichi Nyasani.
