Ndola – Zambian President Edgar Lungu has expressed confidence that he will come out victorious in the August 11 elections, saying he had worked hard in the past year and that he continued to do so, the Post said on Monday.

Lungu said he was not concerned that he would not be re-elected.

“I’m not worried of the outcome of general elections. What is important is that we have worked hard and we are still working hard. I have worked hard in the last one year. So we are confident of victory,” Lungu was quoted as saying.

Lungu came into power after defeating opposition leader and businessman Hakainde Hichilema in a closely contested election early last year, following the death of President Michael Sata in October 2014.

Lungu, however, has constantly come under fire, with the opposition accusing him of mismanaging the country.
