Polokwane – An elderly woman who managed a resort in Limpopo, and whose body was found under a mattress on the Haenertsburg property on Monday morning, was bound with tape, police said on Monday.

Colonel Ronel Otto said the woman, whose age has not yet been determined, was discovered by a domestic worker who reported for duty at the Silver Mist farm.

She said the woman, who was believed to be a widow, was attacked while watching TV on Sunday night.

“Her hands were tied behind her back with Sellotape and her mouth was also closed with the same material,” Otto said.

Cellphones and an Isuzu bakkie were stolen from the scene.

No arrests had yet been made.

According to a source from the area, the woman was believed to be a manager at the Silver Mist resort.

“The house was turned upside down and ransacked. The incident is believed to have happened around midnight and she was found by one of the workers around 07:00,” the source said earlier.
