
“Two assailants stabbed a soldier in Hebron,” a military statement said. “In response to the threat, forces fired at the attackers, resulting in their deaths.”
The incident comes after a recent spate of violence in Israel and the occupied Palestinian territories following Israeli incursions into the al-Aqsa Mosque compound.Since 1 October, 110 Palestinians have been killed along with 21 Israelis, an American, and an Eritrean.
Meanwhile, an Israeli vehicle travelling near the West Bank city of Ramallah was hit by gunfire late on Thursday, the army said.
Speaking on public radio on Friday, the driver said the windscreen of the car was riddled with bullets, but neither he nor his passengers were harmed.
In separate incidents on Thursday, alleged attacks in Jerusalem and the West Bank wounded an Israeli policeman, a soldier, and a bystander. Two Palestinians were shot dead.
