Ouagadougou – Burkina Faso’s coup leader General Gilbert Diendere on Monday insisted he would abide by a regional mediation proposal to end the crisis sparked by last week’s military coup in the west African country.

“We confirm our commitment to return power to the civilian transition authorities following implementation of the agreement proposed by Ecowas,” the general said in an address broadcast on television.
