Freetown – The director of the US Centres for Disease Control and Prevention is in Sierra Leone for consultations on Ebola and the country’s health system as new concerns grow about how many people may have been infected by a single case in the Tonkolili District.Authorities in Sierra Leone last week quarantined 500 people after a man died from Ebola in an area where the deadly virus had been gone for months.
National Ebola Response Centre’s OB Sisay said on Sunday two relatives of the man have Ebola and more cases are feared.
The victim contracted Ebola in the capital, traveled to his home village, and was treated for fever at a local hospital but authorities did not call the Ebola emergency number.
Ebola has killed more than 11 200 people worldwide.
