Cape Town – Five pedestrians walking on the side of the road were injured when a vehicle knocked them down in Pietermaritzburg on Sunday afternoon, paramedics said.

They were apparently walking in a group on Edendale Road around 15:00 when the vehicle veered out of control, said ER24 spokesperson Werner Vermaak.

Two adults were critically injured. Two children aged three and five, as well as a 19-year-old, were moderately injured.
