5 Soldiers killed As Boko Haram Ambushes Troops

Boko Haram terrorists have killed five soldiers carrying out clearance operations in the Borno State.

Three vigilante and one civilian joint taskforce member also lost their lives during the ambush by terrorists while 19 soldiers and a civilian JTF sustained various degrees of injuries.

The encounter occurred in terrorists’ hideouts in Talala and Ajigin, southern Borno.

Colonel Sani Kukasheka Usman, Acting Director of Army Public Relations, confirmed the casualties Sunday night.

He said the troops destroyed the terrorists’ gun truck and recovered two anti-Aircraft guns, two spare Gun barrels, one general purpose machine gun, a rocket propelled grenade, AK-47 rifle and 320 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition.

“Troops have been mobilized into blocking positions to further neutralize fleeing Boko Haram terrorists,”Usman said.

Usman said bodies of the late soldiers and civilians had been evacuated to Maiduguri while the injured were receiving medical care and in a stable condition.
