193 000 Children Immunised Against Polio In Nigeria

Birninkudu Local Government Area of Jigawa had vaccinated 193 642 000 children against polio in its last round of polio immunization.

The council’s information officer, Mustafa Namadi, disclosed this to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Dutse, capital of Jigawa, on Thursday.

Namadi said that the Manager of National Programme on Immunisation (NPI) in the council, Ashiru Muazu, stated the figure while submitting his report to the council’s chairman, Alhaji Adamu Garba.

He said Garba who expressed satisfaction with the level of compliance by parents also urged them to always present their children for routine immunisations.

The information officer said that the council area received enough doses of Oral Polio Vaccines (OPVs) which enhanced smooth conduct of the exercise.

According to him, the children were immunised against polio and other child-killer diseases during the exercise.

Namadi commended both the traditional and religious leaders in the council area for their efforts in mobilising people for the exercise.
