Lusaka – Former Zambian Patriotic Front (PF) member, Besa Chimbaka has warned that the ruling party will die a “confused death” following its move to form an alliance with the opposition Movement for Multiparty Democracy (MMD) party.
According to The Post, Chimbaka questioned why PF was seeking an alliance with a “dead party”.
President Edgar Lungu recently revealed that he was seeking a pact with the MMD in order to secure victory in the upcoming presidential elections.
But Chimbaka said this was an indication that the ruling party was “falling into pieces”.
“MMD died a long time ago and to see PF pleading to go for an alliance with a party that died a long time ago, it shows that the ruling party has remained a ramshackle”, Chimbaka was quoted as saying.
Mbaka said the ruling party of being desperate, as it was being shunned by various districts in the country for not being able to make good on their promises.
“You have heard that Nchelenge and Samfya districts are no-go areas for PF now and the reason is that they were promised roads but nothing has happened. PF is just a ramshackle of a party, which is non-existent in the region,” Chimbaka said.
Chimbaka’s remarks came a few days after President Edgar Lungu maintained that peace would prevail in his southern African country, despite a “looming political thunderstorm” ahead of elections later this year.
