Unconfirmed reports say Islamic State leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi has been killed in an air strike by US-led coalition forces in Syria.

Baghdadi died in an air strike on ISIS’s stronghold of Raqqa in northern Syria, Iranian state media and pro-government Turkish daily Yenis Safak reported, citing ISIS-affiliated Arabic news agency al-Amaq.
The Daily Mail had reported on Friday that the ISIS leader was wounded in a coalition airstrike in northern Iraq.
The paper quoted a local source in the northern province of Nineveh as saying that Baghdadi and other Islamic State leaders were wounded in the strike at the group’s command headquarters close to the Syrian border.
In 2011, the U.S. State Department listed al-Baghdadi as as specially designated global terrorist and announced a reward of up to US$10 million for information leading to his capture or death
