The Federal Government is set to release a list of recovered loot and assets following a directive sent out by President Muhammadu Buhari.
According to Sun News Online, Information Minister Lai Mohammed claimed that the list would be released to the public by the end of the week, albeit without the names of those involved.
While speaking out of why President did not keep his promise in revealing the identities of those involved in the looting of public funds, Mohammed cited legal reasons, saying that Buhari was advised to keep all names withheld.
In addition, the President’s Special Assistant on Publicity, Garba Shehu, stated that Buhari remained true to his words on the issue, claiming that he has done was he had promised.
“He has done what he has promised. He has given directive that the information be published by the Ministry of Information,” Shehu stated.
Buhari has since claimed that a significant amount of loot has been recovered, although the official amount will only be released later.
APC chieftain Abdullahi Bafarawa has since advised Buhari to invest looted funds into health and education while enriching the lives of ordinary Nigerians, Leadership reports.
