Reddit co-founder and Serena Williams’ husband Alexis Ohanian, was dragged into an exchange by a fan who felt disappointed over their daughter, Alexis Olympia Ohanian’s uncelebrated birthday.
The fan got Alexis Ohanian’s attention after dropping a comment on the photo, the Reddit co-founder shared on Instagram. The photo he shared came with the caption;
1 year ago today, you changed our lives forever, @olympiaohanian ? my adventure princess.’
The fan who pointed out the uncelebrated birthday wrote;
it’s so sad that Olympia will not have a BD party
However Alexis Ohanian had a ready response and he wrote;
I’m not a Witness, but I considered how made up it all is: the purpose of celebrating a birthday is to celebrate life with the people who love you (and to eat cake).
This baby is loved and will get to celebrate life with people who love her *plenty* of times, with plenty of parties (and eat cake — in moderation) throughout her life.
The response also got the support of some of his followers. Recall that we reported Tennis legend, Serena Williams confirmed she will not be celebrating her daughter’s first birthday due to her Jehovah’s Witness beliefs.
Serena Williams whose daughter Alexis Olympia turned one over the weekend, made this known while speaking at a press conference at the US Open. Serena was speaking at a press conference at the US Open, when she was asked whether she has thought about she’d be celebrating Olympia’s first birthday.
Responding to a reporter asking: ‘Is there a birthday party planned?’, the 36-year-old said: ‘Olympia doesn’t celebrate birthdays. We’re Jehovah’s Witnesses, so we don’t do that.’
The disclosure came after it was reported that Serena’s husband, Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian, did not grow up in a religious household, but is now believed to be practising Jehovah’s Witness beliefs with his wife.
