Steve Hofmeyr’s Performance At North-West University Cancelled

The North-West University in Potchefstroom has cancelled Steve Hofmeyr’s performance at one of its residences.

According to Rapport, the right-wing activist was meant to perform at a concert organized by the Patria men’s residence as part of its annual July festival.

The publication also reported that University’s Director of Corporate Communications, Louis Jacobs told them that, “Steve’s image and utterances did not comply with the inclusive space the university wanted to build at its campuses.”

Despite the concert being cancelled, Jacobs said that Steve will still be paid as they will honour the contract in place.

The controversial singer has had several gigs cancelled because of his views. In March,Toyota and Media24 terminated its sponsorship agreement with Afrikaans is Groot because of its Hofmeyr’s involvement.

The ANC was reported to be opening a case against Steve Hofmeyr after he made death threats against Denmark ambassador Zindzi Mandela and Democratic Alliance (DA) Member of Parliament Phumzile van Damme.
