Koko master D’banj revealed during an interview with fast rising UK acts, The FedzFed, how he signed Davido back in 2014 with a Rolex watch.
However, Davido’s parents called him and told him to let the young star finish his studies. The former Mo-Hits crew was talking about being inspired by both old and younger generation artistes.
About being inspired by Davido, he said:
In 2014, a producer brought a young artiste to my studio to sign. I signed the artist by giving him a Rolex wristwatch as his signing up fee. So I signed the artist and got called later on that the parents of the artist wanted to meet me. So I went and the dad said please, I want my boy to go to school. I know you’ve signed him, but allow him to go to school. So, that also inspired me and I let him go to school and then after that, he can continue to music. And to look at today and realize the boy I’m talking about, is one of the biggest artists to come out of this nation is Davido, it’s inspiring. Today,I’m sure he can look at other artistes and give them Rolexes.
