Actor Mbulelo Ndlazilwana, who was arrested last week at a brothel in Springs, east of Johannesburg, during a sting operation by the police, is free.
According to TimesLive, the actor and 11 other suspects were finally released from custody yesterday and were not eventually charged for the crimes.
Recall that when the news broke last week, TimesLive reported that the then-unnamed actor was arrested alongside 16 others consisting of 6 men(including a Nigerian) and 11 women — aged between 19 and 43 years old. The arrest follows a different bust at a brothel in the same area, where 5 teenage girls were allegedly held as sex slaves.
Later, Mbulelo Ndlazilwana was revealed to be the actor arrested during the raid, and the South African Police Service (SAPS) spokesperson Capt Kay Makhubela said the sting operation was carried out after a 25-year-old woman escaped from the house and alerted the police.
Now, Mbulelo and 10 others have been released and will not be charged for any crimes.
The remaining 5 suspects will remain in prison until their next court appearance on June 6.
It is unclear if the unnamed Nigerian was freed too.
