Dlamini-Zuma To Deliver State Of The Continent Address

The African Union Commission Chairperson Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma is expected to deliver the first and only state of the continent address in Durban on Monday, reports say.

According to eNCA, Dlamini-Zuma was set to outline the continent’s “trials and triumphs”.

Ambassadors from across the continent were expected to attend the event.

Dlamini-Zuma’s tenure as AU commission chair ended in July but was extended to January, when the new chairperson would be voted in.

African heads of state failed to elect a new head of the AU commission in July after they were unable to agree on a successor to lead the executive branch of the continental body during its 27th summit in Kigali, Rwanda.
