Many Niger Delta militants were killed on Thursday when the Nigerian military under the Operation Delta Safe bombed a militant camp at Okosugbene Creek, along Burutu-Warri River, near Burutu, Delta State.
The military according to Vanguard attacked the creek with two fighter jets and about seven gun boats for nearly an hour,resulting in the death of many militants.
The soldiers, who struck at about 6a.m. caught the militants unawares.
The camp, which is believed to be an abandoned militant camp belonging to the Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND) is now occupied by pirates.
Information about the casualties of the attack was still unknown.
