37 heads of state are expected in Nairobi for the Tokyo International Conference of African Development (Ticad) VI.
Japan’s Prime Minister Shinzo Abe has already arrived in the country ahead of the conference.
Police have put up measures to boost security as the event has attracted about 10,000 delegates.
Nairobi head of traffic Leonard Katana has already received reinforcement of 400 officers to man traffic in the city, Standard reports, with Japan offering 15 patrol cars to be used during the event.
Several roads in the CBD will be closed, including the Kencom bus terminus.
The Sixth Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD VI) Summit will be held at Kenyatta International Convention Center (KICC) in Nairobi on 27th -28th August 2016.
This will be the first time TICAD is being held in Africa since its start in 1993, according to information on the official TICAD VI website.
