Indications on Thursday suggest that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has zoned the position of National Chairman to the South-west, while the South-South was handed the Deputy National Chairman
According to Punch, the zoning was done on Thursday at the Rivers State Government House, Port Harcourt, where the PDP governors from the South met.
In the meeting also attended by, National Assembly members and former ministers from the zone, the PDP also zoned the positions of National Treasurer and Deputy National Publicity Secretary to the South West.
The party zoned the position of First Deputy National Chairman to the South-South. The South-South also got the positions of National Legal Adviser, Deputy National Women Leader and Deputy National Auditor, reports NewsDay
The South-East got the following positions: National Organising Secretary, National Youth Leader and Deputy National Financial Secretary.
With the zoning of the chairmanship to the South- west, the ambition of former chairman of Daar Communications., the parent body of African Independent Television (AIT), Raymond Dokpesi to lead the party may have been thwarted
The decision leaves the party’s former deputy national chairman Bode George, former minister, Prof. Tunde Adeniran; Shuaibu Oyedokun; as well as the party’s governorship candidate for Lagos State in the 2015 general elections, Jimi Agbaje; and former Governor of Ogun State, Otunba Gbenga Daniels in the race for the chairmanship position.
