Nyeri County Commissioner, Onesmus Musyoki has warned petrol station attendants against selling fuel to students following cases of school unrest in various parts of the country.
Musyoki said the attendants will face the full force of the law if they go against this directive.
He said due to the rampant cases of unrest, nothing will be left to chance in Nyeri County and thus the people in the fuel industry must coöperate to avert any incident.
He also warned boda boda operators against offering transport services to rogue students saying they risk to be charged as accomplices in crime.
Musyoki noted that his office has sensitized the petrol station attendants, boda boda operators and education stakeholders over the matter.
He was speaking at Iria-ini Girls Secondary school in Othaya during this year’s World Population Day.
The theme of this year was ‘Investing in Teenage Girls.’
The Principal of the school, Margaret Munene said it was a benefit to the school since the girls were sensitized on many issues and got a chance to go through cancer screening.
Schools that participated in the event include Gitundu, Maria Goretti, Iria-ini and Kenyatta Mahiga High Schools among other local schools.
The students were sensitized on discipline, fear of God, hard work and pre-marital sex to avoid early pregnancies and Sexually Transmitted Diseases.
The National Council for Population and Development (NCPD) regional coördinator, Dorcas Oluteyo said girls need to be empowered with information to avoid alcoholism, unsafe abortion and drug abuse during teenage.
