Nigeria: Escaped Kuje Prison Inmates Re-Arrested

Maxwell Ajukwu and Solomon Amodu, the two prisoners that escaped from Kuje Prison Abuja last Friday June 24th, have been re-arrested.

According to Sahara Reporters, prison officials confirmed the re-arrest of the two inmates and said they are being detained at the Department of State Security’s office in Abuja.

The prison officials did not state where or how the inmates were caught.

News24 previously reported that Controller-General of Prisons, Ahmed Jafa’aru, has ordered the redeployment of the officer in-charge of Kuje Medium Prisons, Musa Tanko, over the escape of two inmates last Friday, Punch reports.

Tanko was directed to report at the Federal Capital Territory Command of the service where he would face a team of investigators.

Another officer was reported to have taken over at the Kuje prisons following Tanko’s redeployment.
